GIVING REWARD AND PUNISHMENT TO GROW CHILDERNS INTEREST

Abstract

This study aims to determine the method of giving reward and punishment to foster children's interest in learning. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted from May to July 2022. Research informants namely class teachers of grades B1, B2 and B3. Data collection techniques are interviews, observation and documentation. The results of this study that the reward and punishment method can foster children's interest in learning, where giving reward stickers can make children feel happy and interested in participating in learning. Rewards of praise and thumbs up make children pay more attention and make children feel involved in the learning process and this can foster children's interest in class. Likewise with the provision of punishment to children. Giving the right punishment can make children want to take part in learning without coercion from the teacher. Giving punishment such as singing makes children feel happy. Giving timeouts to children makes children feel interested and pay attention to lessons.
